Facility Details
The GM Spring Hill Manufacturing facility is located in Spring Hill, a growing community 40 miles south of Nashville. The plant lies within the borders of Maury County. The first vehicle, a Saturn S-Series sedan, rolled off the line in Spring Hill on July 30, 1990. The last Saturn vehicles to be produced in our plant, the Saturn VUE and Saturn ION, came down the line in March 2007. After a one year plant refurbishment, the facility produced the Chevrolet Traverse for just over a year, until November 2009. Currently, the site manufacturing operations consist of an engine plant making 4-cylinder engines, a stamping plant, two polymer injection molding operations and one painting operation for bumper fascias. These manufactured engines and other components are supplied to various GM assembly plants across the globe. On Nov. 21, 2011, GM announced that it would reopen the assembly plant as one of the world’s most flexible manufacturing facilities capable of building any GM car or crossover based on customer demand or manufacturing need. It will begin producing the hot-selling Chevrolet Equinox during the second half of 2012.
